Volant Performance

It is about time I replace the stock air filter. I was considering going with the Volant kit. Does anyone have a data in regards to improvements in performance; I am mainly interested in any MPG improvements? I noticed "Diesel Power" had an article about cold air intakes a couple of months ago, but they only showed several kits that are available out there and said that they would address the performance results in a future issue. I like the way the Volant kit looks and have read that the turbo sounds much louder, how much louder/annoying is it?

Thanks in advance,

D

Just as a side not look at the S&B kits. The price is around two hundred less and works nicely. I modified my by using a oiless filter (Dryflow) and a PM buick coldair intake. With everything it was still cheaper than the Volant kit.
The cheapest place I've found is Jegs under two hundred

I like my Volant CAI. The trurbo noise to me is just perfect, not annoying at all. I don't know the performance numbers though.

I put mine on at 1000 miles and noticed a 1 mpg gain and better throttle response.

I just got the new diesel power magazine and they had tested 6 different filter setups on an 04 and dynoed each one including the stock setup and there was virtually no difference in hp gains. They then went on to see which one made the turbo sing the loudest and I think it was the volant. They were surprised at the test results.

Volant

Had mine on for about 1500 miles now and love it! It is well made and easy to install. Looks really good under the hood and was under $300 dollars...no regrets. The whistle is perfect not annoying. Comes down to how much you want to spend because there are tons of good systems on the market for our engine.

Thanks for all the feedback. I just got the new diesel power mag as well. I figured that there would have been more significant improvement in performance.
I found the Volant for $296 with an additional 10% discount and free shipping from AJUSA.com this weekend. I don't do much heavy hauling, mostly looking for better fuel economy and i do not want to add a chip. I plan on getting a new exhaust soon as well. Hopefully the two working together will have better results.
