Volant Truck Kits With Box

http://www.volantperformance.com/Pro...6659/16659.htm

anyone used this one?

i want to replace the whole system, from the Turbo up to the filter, and loose the accordion hose from the turbo up to the airbox.

this one looks like it seals to the fender inlet to get cool air.

think it's $199, saw it in a magazine to day, but lost the ad...arrrgg....

is the 04 different from the 03 is my question, i guess....

DO YOU REALIZE THAT THE "ACCORDION HOSE" LETS THE MOTOR SHAKE AND VIBRATE AND STILL KEEP A GOOD CONECTION AT THE AIR BOX. ONE OF MY FRIENDS HAS THE K&N SET UP THAT DOES AWAY WITH THE SAME HOSE AND HE HAS TO KEEP TIGHTING THE CLAMPS EVERY FILL-UP.

Ditto on the K&N setup. I had the same problem/ inconvienence on my 2000. As for the Volant, the one pictured is for the 2002 and below. You can tell because the tubing bends back to the passenger side rear of the engine compartment. This is were the filter was on the 2nd gen trucks. For ours, the filter box is up front of the battery. They list the product as a 2002-2003 fit but I know the two are different or I would have kept my old K&N. I wrote volant about a month ago to see when they would have a new kit out for the 3rd gen trucks. Never got a response. Simply put, if it fits the 2002 then it won't fit the 2003-04. The 2003's & 2004's have the same configuration though. Hope this helps.

After reading the above post I am not sure you still want the cold air system. But if it helps, I just purchased a Volant #29425 system for a ford I have. Seems to be very well made and looks cool sitting here in the box, I'll put it and several other goodies on when it warms up. I like the way it is built, and the large cone filter is nice. Just need to get an outwears cover for it. Oh, your lucky my kit was 229.00.

ok, maybe that explains why the Scotty set-up keeps the accordion hose.

i have not seen a K&N set up for the 04 yet.

MAC does have a setup for the 04, it doesn't really seal out the hot air, kinda looks like the K&N boxes, sheet metal with foam on one edge, but not really airtight enough to keep from drawing hot air from inside the engine compt.

here's a summary dismissal of the suggested poor performance of the metal MAC intake:
http://www.aempower.com/truck/press_...ail.asp?aid=15
this engineer basically says MAC (or any other brands) metal intake pipe has no effect:
"the air in the duct of a 30-inch inlet length on this engine at the given rpm is 1/10th of a second—hardly enough time to transfer an appreciable amount of heat into the air stream on any system"

no pic, but:
http://www.aempower.com/truck/press_...ail.asp?aid=24
AEM (Advanced Engine Management) is proud to introduce its BRUTE FORCE intake systems for 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins Turbodiesel (21-8206)

and as for ram air effects, that has been way dis-credited on the camaro SS forums, so if the SS's hood scoop (in a direct line, scooping clean air) is not effective enough to create a PSI difference, i doubt the fender well/radiator support the Dodge Ram is creating a " Ram Air " effect.
