Upgrades for new engine??

I am in the process of getting a new engine installed. I have the weekend to decide on injectors, turbo, and possible exhaust manifold. This is all for a '06. What would a set of 50/60hp injectors along with say a phat shaft 62 turbo and manifold do to my mileage?? I tow frequently in the 6-9K trailer range. I am realy looking for mileage increase if I am going to make any leaps over putting stock parts in. Thoughts???

Wow....nobody?? Will the 50HP dragon fly injectors from II make me drop off on my mileage compared to a stock injector?

I have heard thru a very good builder that the smaller injectors 40hp range maybe a little more can increase mileage a good deal. And that the #1 issue with trucks with poor mileage is the huge range in stock injector flow rates. My truck is an 06 2500 with 40K on the clock and I average 13.8 in town hand calculated. Long story short my first upgrade when my extended warranty is up is a set of F1 injectors. Heck everyone I talk to with a SRW truck gets 14-16 in town. I know it will be worth the money. So if I were you I would go with new injectors, its not going to hurt.

I have seen the formula1 injectors but unfortunately considering I just bought a new engine(reman) I don't have the funds for the f1's. I am looking at the dragon fly since they are not much more than the stockers ($80 per injector more). Industrial Injection seems to be a very reputable company as a whole so I feel confident in their injectors. I am just trying to cover all my bases since I am throwing a new engine in this thing. Melted my #2 cylinder at 338K.

I agree. larger nozzles will get the fuel in quicker and that allows combustion to happen earlier and faster. The stock nozzles are designed for long duration and low flow so the fuel burn is slow and gradual. That reduces the pressue spike which is the diesel knock noise. The peak pressure and temp is responsible for the NOx emissions they are trying to reduce. That's the whole reason for small nozzles. As long as you don't go crazy with big nozzles you will have good fuel atomization at the lighter loads. Thus an improvement in efficiency and mileage.

Here is my list so far:
I am thinking mitusa mechanical pump, 50hp dragon fly's, ats exhasut manifold, phat shaft 62 turbo, cool hose with home depot mod on airbox running a napa gold drop in filter, GDP intake horn and GDP intake manifold, make cat disappear and put either 40 or 51" donaldson on. All I have for a box is a Quad towing box. I already run a GDP 2um big line filter kit. Most of the rest is stock. Thoughts?? Any of this a waste of money?? I need to make all decisions by end of day tomorrow. Engine is going in Monday morning.

Are the II's just nozzles?

What melted #2 to begin with?

The II Dragon Fly's are complete with new bosch injectors as a base and then I would assume some sort of nozzle work and blancing etc.

Honestly I am in such a time crunch I have not be able to work real hard on getting to the bottom of the cause since it really doesn't matter (I need a long block no matter what) but the mechanic said it ran hot....well duh.

Gotcha.

I'm not real familiar with II products, and I wanted to make sure whatever caused the initial meltdown was properly taken care of...

Like an injector hanging open, etc.

I had an Industrial Injection Stage II CP3 on an old truck. I bought the truck used with it on there and when a fuel line that ran to it busted all I did was call and explain what happened and I had a brand new one in the mail a few days later free of charge. That really impressed me so I will most likely be purchasing their products when I can save up money to mod my current truck.

II seems to be a good reputable company and an honest one too which is a huge plus. Just trying to decide on all these parts in a hurry as to what is worth it and what should jsut be replaced with stock.
