Ultimate vs. Line-X?

These two are very convenient to me. The Rhino dealer is a good 45 minutes away in a bad area. I don't want to hassle it with them. So, which is better - Ultimate or Line-X?

Colors? Have you experienced fading with either of these brands? I'm thinking of a dark blue or maybe burgundy on my Silver truck.

Thanks,
Neil

I've heard that the colored bedliners will fade no matter which brand you get. The difference is that some of them will offer warranties against fading while others will not.

I've never heard of Ultimate, but I do know that the bedliner is only as good as the installer. Check out some of the installations from each company and decide which one you like. Of course, things like price, warranty, texture and stuff like that should also play a role in your decision.

I don't know about Ultimate, but I think you owe it to yourself to check out Speedliner. Several of my friends have them, and they seem to resist fading very well. Several standard colors, plus paint shops can color match. Just soft enough not to be slick.

(and no, I don't have anything to do with the product or any dealer).

Just had a LineX put in today. They did a great job and added a little on the gate to hide some of the scratches.

I checked out Speedliner and the nearest installer is about 20 miles away. I didn't go there but we chatted on the phone for a few minutes. Let's just stay he didn't inspire much confidence in himself or the product. First, he failed to inform me that there was a web-coupon ($50 value) for a free standard color - instead telling me standard colors (other than black) were $80 more (first red flag). Then I asked him about fading and he said it would go a year without fading and that they all start fading after a year. Hmmmm, that's not so encouraging either (second red flag). Finally, I asked him about how well the Kevlar additive worked to make the lining tougher. He said he never used it and he thought it was just a lot of hype (third red flag - bashing his own product). Maybe Speedliner is a great product, but as several here have pointed out, it's only as good as the installer.

I think I'm gonna stick with Line-X. My truck is not a work truck and, frankly, I don't carry a lot of stuff in it so cargo slipping around in the bed isn't really a big issue for me. The Line-X installer is by far the most professional of the ones I checked out and he's only a few miles from home and I'm pretty sure they'll be in business long enough to support the warranty.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Neil

By all means, I would put more weight on the reputation of the installer than the brand of the product.

The speedliner guy here is someone I have done business before. I trust him, and know he will stand behind it. If he were selling another brand, I would have went to the same guy.

Be happy, and enjoy the truck.
