Re:315/70/17 ultimate question!
The information I've seen on this subject is that on some vehicles they work fine without any rub, where others get a little rub at full lock. I'm still trying to figure out if a spare that size will fit where the factory spare sits on a SWB with the factory hitch. I did see a post on TDR where a guy got it to fit, but when I saw the pics of his truck, he didn't have a hitch.

I thought about not running a spare myself. What I do with my current vehicles is that I patch if I get a flat. I carry a plug and patch kit, and because of it, I've never had to use the spare. Oh, and it seems to take less time to plug a tire then to replace with the spare.

Re:315/70/17 ultimate question!
Hopefully for the last time....
The 315's fit on my stock truck with no rubbing.
The 315's fit as a spare under the truck WITH the factory hitch.
Just get them on boys, they really improve the looks of the truck! They also have improved the ride as well.

Re:315/70/17 ultimate question!
What is the advantage over 285's, aside from being cheaper? I've seen pics of people with 315's that show rub marks on the inside, from doing u-turns during full lock. I'm curious what the difference is why some people's rub and some don't. Could it be those users just don't realize they're rubbing, or is it something different? ???

Re:315/70/17 ultimate question!
The simple answer is tolerances. Every dimension on everything ever made has a tolerance, whether it's recognized or not. No two items are completely dimensionally identicle, especially not the suspension components on a mass-produced 4x4 truck. Heck, even the backspacing on those factory rims has a tolerance, and if you add up the tolerances from everything that could affect whether or not the 315's fit, it's easy to see why some do and some don't.

I just keep one of those 12volt pump with me. That way I can take it from vehicle to vehicle. I'm thinking about getting a 2nd one because it comes in handy.

I've watched these threads as well and always paid attention to people's signatures. It seems that more people with 2500's have trouble with rubbing than do people with 3500's.
I also carry a 12v compressor and plugs in the toolbox, but haven't had to use it yet. I originally started carrying it on atv rides, and decided that it just made sense to leave it in the truck while not riding the 4 wheeler.

I have a 3500 SRW and they rub a little at full lock. The best price is still Tirerack.com. The last time I looked they were down to $119.00....good luck.
