I havent installed twins (yet) but I dont see why some one that is a little mechanicaly inclined couldnt do it. I will be doin my own (everything for that matter that doesnt require machining) but that is a call you will have to make for yourself. For that kinda money you bet I would do it myself.

I think it depends on who's kit you are installing. I've read posts about more than one person receiving a twin setup in the mail WITHOUT any directions! My MPI kit came complete with EVERYTHING! I didn't have to run out to Home Depot for a missing bolt or anything and the directions were very detailed and clear. It was also nice to know that Nathan was reachable by phone if I got stuck somewhere during the install.

If the shop you got a quote from has done twin installs in the past, I'm sure they've dealt with a headache install once or twice, so they're just covering themselves in case things don't go so smooth. Paying that much for labor really sucks, but if the shop is reputable and it's relatively close to you, it's nice to know that if something does go wrong, you don't have to drive to Oregon to get it fixed.

You make perfect sense, I really don't want to drive to Oregon to get something "fixed", looks like I'm paying for the labor or taking on the install with a friend. Thanks for the advice and input from all.

If I were you I'd do the install by yourself and use dtr to ask ?'s or I'll give you my # and I'll help ya out the best I can. Tools are the important part. I havn't installed twins yet but I'm sure it's not difficult at all.I'm sure you'll also learn a lot about your truck during the process

I've got a number of pictures from my install somewhere on my old computer that may be able to help if you end up doing the install yourself. Just make sure you print up a good set of directions and go over them ahead of time to make sure you have all the recommended/necessary tools and to make sure you aren't missing any items.

The only concern I have with a twin install is getting the plug out of the block for the second turbo oil drain. What are some of your all's suggestions on how to do this? I appreciate all ideas and suggestions. jay

Take a look at the third quote down in my post here,

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=183784

Mark came up with the idea of screwing a screw partway into the plug, then wrapping a ziptie around the head of the screw so you could hold the zip tie while you're trying to pop the plug out.

Too bad you don't live here in Alberta. There are about 5 guys right now that would make a weekend of it and help you. Ya might not get it done in 10 hours but it would be a good time installing it!!

DON'T ASK SHANE!! That is the first instruction...

Seriously, it's easy, just don't knock it into the block and oil pan.

I used a scratch awl (the kind with the 90* in it), punched the hole in the bottom corner (so as to not knock the plug in) and just pulled it out.

Jay the easiest way I think is kinda how Mark did it with a fine thread drywall screw with a guide or a sheet medal screw. The ziptie would work well

I had never installed a set before I did my own. Went off without a hitch. I wouldn't think you'd have any problems.

Thanks for all the input, I believe BD would have similar shop cost and times, I think I'm going to go for it and try to install with my buddy. I'll take a few photos and let ya know how it goes. Thanks again.
