i just read a reply that mentioned a turbo ring. has anyone heard of this? what kind of difference will there be without it. my engine is stock except for a homemade intake i did myself.............if there is a difference what is the procedure for removal?????????????

 

are you talking about a silencer ring ? if so do a search on here and you will find pics and everything you need to know . there isn't really any performance out of it but it does make the turbo a lil louder . hope this helps

 

It's called the silencer ring, and yes, it makes a difference. Turbo whistles pretty good without it. Just search "Silencer ring removal" and you should find days of reading...

 

there is tons of posts on this ... all it does is make you turbo "sing " a little louder dosn't do any thing for perfromance ... it is really easy to take out .. just remove the intake pipe and you'll see it there ... there is a snap ring holding it in .. i just used a little screw driver to pry it out .. took all of 30 seconds .. and i didn't even scratch it .. but if you want more info on if just punch in "turbo silencer ring removal "

I had to use two precision screwdrivers to get the ring out of the 07. That snapring can be a pain to get to. It was much easier on the 03 for some reason.....

 

Ya that square ring was a pain for me to.

 

my 06 didn't have a snap ring it was pressed in but with a pair of channel locks it came out after persuation haven't taken the ring out of my new warrenty replaced turbo yet lol

 

Hi there question for ya. If I take out the silencer, will it void my truck warrenty? mostly I take the truck in for oil changes at the dealer. I have a lifetime oil change warrenty

I doubt the dealer would notice it removed.

i took the silencer ring out of my 06 and there is hardly a difference until you upgrade the intake and ya that snap ring is a son of a ***** so i pulled silencer ring and left the snap in there it wont hurt anything. when you upgrade your air intake that is when your turbo is gonna make peoples ears bleed. swwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttttttt ttt.
