Trying 4.11 again, after being passenger w/wife driving (4.4 now)
So yesterday, I was really tired so the wife drove the truck. It was kind of funny. She uses 2 hands to push the stick into gear. She drives it fine, but she smokes so bad driving that thing. She slowed down to about 5 mph to go right, left it in 4th gear, then got on the throttle. Oh man, cars were pulling over behind us. The tailpipe looked like a tire factory was burning.
If I drive and it feels totally slow, I will probably go back tomorrow, I can't stand losing power.
Just sharing useless info again.
Thanx.

Ha Ha!!
I had the same experience running a Smarty/MP-8/TST stack with my fiancee driving the '03. At the time I had a SPS66. She would smoke out everyone all the time. Good stuff (as long as your plate can't be seen)

HA!! U R right about that. Here in Pirus Country, CA. I am waiting for a DMV letter.
Yeah, the other day I was lane-splitting on the 101, I passed SIX Priuses (or is it Priusi) in a row, only to pass a couple regular cars and another half dozen Priuses. I bet 1/2 of big T's hybrid sales are in CA.
It's no longer the letter you have to worry about. It's the CHP that will pull you over and do an opacity test and check for your properly installed smog equipment. I've heard of it happening both in the Sacramento area and in So Cal...

OK, I just got home driving on 4.11/2.11 (moderate torque management). Besides the EGT's being noticeably cooler, I could swear it smokes more. That is not how I remembered it. I like the power of the 4.4 better. I am going back tomorrow.

Man have you got that right. I jsut ran some errands. Letting off the clutch and giving around 1/2 throttle is much smokier than the 4.4.
Man the 4.4 is great. I am sure the new revo/tnt tunes are great as heck, but I just have not gotten around to reading any of them. After a turbo I mightstart doing some digging.
My experience with 4.11 lower egts, less smoke, slower to boost. It did smoke longer due to the slower spoolup, but not as concentrated as 4.4s.
4.4 higher, but still very nice egts, super fast spoolup compared to 4.11, blacker smoke, more smoke when revving from idle, much quicker. The smoke clears out quicker, but I would still say it was more smoke because it will lay it out in every gear.

Now that I think of it, I don't think I have gone that fast in my truck(110mph). I floor it a few times a day for lie 3-4 seconds and that is about it. I think I agree with rip112 on the smoke think, slow spool makes it seem like more smoke around town.
