Truck too loud!

Truck too loud!
Hey gents, I'm new to the CTD and new to this site. Had 4 Powerstrokes in the past but felt the CTD was the way to go this time (can you say MEGA CAB?) Well, like with my Fords the first thing I did was to dump the Cat and muffler and install the AFE Stage 2 system. Cr*p! This thing woke up! I can hear the turbo spools up immediately off idle and is a little "whiney", but the danged exhaust is too loud! Being an 06 it is 4" from the turbo back and I had the muffler shop leave the resonator, but this thing makes my teeth hurt. I need a 4" straight through muffler that will quiet this thing down. I read the article on the Davidson (I think) is this the way to go? Planning on a programmer next month... so what is the consensus. Thanks in advance for the help, all replies will be considered and investigated and idiots will be summarily discounted! (relax, just kidding!) Seems like a good group.

I have a 24" magnaflow muffler with a 6" x 18" SS tip. You can tell its there but its, IMO, not too loud. Its about right. Taking off you can hear it a little. Getting on it you can hear it but driving 70 mph down the road it has a nice little rumble. You might try the 30" magnaflow. It is the same exact size of the stock muffler . I think you are referring to a donaldson.

Welcome to the DTR forums DADDYKEVIN. Yes, there are some smart people on here and they know alot about the CTD! I just did the muffler delete on my M E G A ! ! and I like it alot. Not too loud, not too quiet. I left the kitty and the resonator. No drone and I like the way it sounds.
I have heard good things about the Donaldson line, you should check them out.

I have a 5" turbo-back MBRP and love it. I am in the process of getting stacks so if you were interested, I would gladly sell you mine at a nice price! Real deep tone, no drone, and not TOO loud.

I installed the 51" donaldson yesterday from the MBRP that I had that was loud and droning like nobody buisness.
The donaldson is quiet as stock when cruising but when you get on it you know that there is something under the hood.

The 52" Nelson is an excellent muffler (the one without baffle) as well. I went 40" this time, as I have the cat.
