Transmission slipping bad help!

hi everyone I would like everyones advice on the most cost effective way to strengthen my 48re transmission. Im thinking torque converter and valve body? Should that be good enough? Ive got the edge with attitude and the "hot" level 6. overdrive slips a bit on 5 and cant even use 6. If I did a torque coverter and valve body what kind of power would I be good for with out worrying? thanks everyone.

TC and Valve body should cure most of the problems(for a while). I know the TC was most of my problems.

Well, with those tires and that power you have already severely impacted the longevity. I would hazard a guess you direct and forward clutches are starting to feel the strain and the TC also.

Your going to need a good TC and shift kit at a minimum, an aftermarket VB will work as well. I would be more concerned about fixing the damage you have already incurred. I would have the trans pulled down and inspected befor spending much on parts. If OD is really slipping you may have more pieces to replace.

A custom VB has the shift kit in it and maybe some more tweaks and features, like 1st and 2nd gera lockup, etc. Unless you are going all out racing or pulling a good shift kit will usually suffice.

Considering what I have seen on mine, I would figure on having the trans tore down and checked. Thats a lot of slip to have not hurt something.

The only slip I felt in mine was the TC one or twice on the higher settings and it always shifted and pulled great. This is what we found when we tore it down:

waw ic alright to tell you the truth i cant really tell if its slipping in 1-3 but i do feel like if they shifted better and firmer I would get more power to the ground. i would also like to be able to do a brake stand because as of now i do it and the engine will rev up to like 2200 or so and sit there then i let off and it starts off gradually moving to take off its weird.
