trans temps driving in the city
Outside temperatures were lower yesterday, now in the 50's. Comming back home yesterday trying to drive the same way as last with my cold werther front off, transmission temperatures would barely get past 130. Not as much traffic here in the big metropolis of Rockford IL as Miami so this might not be a good comparison. But 180* transmission temperature has always been my "watch out" point. FYI
I've got an 05 w/ 48RE and I commonly see temps in the 190-210 range (stop-and-go driving) with ambient temps above 70 or so (empty or loaded). My sender is located in the hot cooler line, and readings from a IR temp meter confirm that the guages are correct. If yours is anything like mine, pay attention to when your TC is locking up...that's when you'll see the quick temp drops. As soon as I hit about 50mph and the TC locks up I'll see a good 30-40 degree drop within a half mile. You can even kick it into tow/haul mode and get the temps down a bit (this just locks up the TC more).
I am looking at getting one of the Mag-Hytec pans to see what drop, if any, I can get with it. If that doesn't work, I suppose I'll just put a secondary trans cooler up front.
Any other ideas/remedies out there?

I just installed a fully billet Goerend Bros tranny today, my truck at 70 is 150, in stop and go, its easily hitting 180-190 very quickly? Is something wrong with my new tranny? How much fluid will it hold with a DD tranny? I ended up putting almost 19 quarts and in neutral, its right at the max level.
I have the edge hot, and when I whent to reset some alerts I noticed the trans Alert from edge was set at 215.So I called edge and they said that 215 was still safe on the 06. they said they got there info from dodge. This still seems high to me,
