Boost fooling is when a device clamps the voltage on the MAP sensor so it can't read any higher than let's say 4.68 volts. The ECU looks to the MAP sensor for fueling purposes. If the sensor maxes out on voltage then the ECU sees it as an overboost situation and will back fuel out. You don't want this with a box so the box will clamp that voltage and report it at no more than the 4.68 volts so the ECU is always happy. At that point the box can fuel how much it wants using duration, timing, pressure or whatever. Then you can also add a boost elbow in your case to make more boost with the added fuel from the box or on the 600/610 control it electronically to boost more to match the added fuel without upsetting the ECU.

Boost fooling allows higher than stock boost.....others play with the MAP sensor or other sensors to get higher fueling at lower indicated boost....This is why some people get the DTC "Altitude out of range". ks
