'06 TCC lockup switch

Was wondering if anybody had figured out how to install a lockup switch on the tcc. i know the # 7 pin on the side of the trans is the tcc solenoid control wire and to run it to a switch with the other side grounded, but not sure wether this will set a check engine light or not. any help would be much appreciated.

If you run it directly to ground it will throw a rationality code. The ECU needs to see more than 100k Ohms or it thinks there is a dead short. Depending on how much they have changed it should work about the same as an 05. Wire a 33 ohm 1/4 watt 2% resistor between the ground and switch to stop the code throwing. About all you can do is try unless some one chimes in.

Switches, resistors, diodes are all sitting on my bench. Can't get enough time to put it together and test. Do a search here as there a couple of threads that cover the subject pretty well. Good luck.

this afternoon, i installed a 33 ohm, 1/2 watt, %5 resistor on the wire from ground to switch as you had said. Then i took the other side of the switch to pin 7 on the plug on the side of the tranny. i put the switch in the plastic cover plate for adjustable pedals above the emergency brake release. my truck doesn't have them. i have driven it around all day messing with it and it has worked flawlessly without a check engine light. it will allow you to even lock up in first. i am very happy and much appreciative to your suggestions. my only question about the whole thing is if the removal of torque management through a BDDL has aided in this working or not. thanks again. bobby

Nope. Works the same way on a bone stock truck.

One caveat about this mod, your input shaft is in EXTREME danger stock. Remove the TM and..... (shudder)........

You think a truck with just a 60 HP programmer and exhaust would be enough to break the input with the lock-up??How bout if I put the 114 HP in it???I had been told that with only a programmer,I wouldn't hurt the shaft. In fact my tranny guy(who has a 600hp 1400tq Cummins himself)told me my tranny would probly live longer with the lock-up.What yall think???BTW- I usually launch my truck in 4wd at around 15 pounds, and I was hoping to lock the TC right after launch. ???????

Unless you stay above or near the stall rpm on all shifts ....locking the TC will slow you down in most cases. Top drag racers using a race 47 or 48re usually have a non lockup converter with high fluid coupling efficiency or a very high stall (3k) that only locks up for the finish so that the turbo (s) spool and stay spooled. Locking the TC keeps the tranny fluid cool and this can help tranny life if you are normally running hot. With a late lock up only in 4th with about 450hp I could do a 14.47 with serious defueling due to pressure relief and low supply pressure between the 60ft and the 1/8th. With an early lock up with about 750hp I couldn't get under 14.9 as traction was lost on every shift even in 1st gear....but the tranny temps stayed cool ks

Keep doing that on a stock trans and you will find out.
