I want to try the tone rind mod tomorrow. Help me with location of the tone ring and the proceedure to get done.

 

Lay under your truck and it's on the very front of your engine at the bottom. You'll see a big damper wheel that the belt goes around. It's right behind that.

It's a simple technique. After you remove the belt you just loosen the four bolts holding the damper on, slide it off and then slide the tone ring off (wheel looking thing with teeth on it). File about 1/8" off of the counterclockwise side of the dowel pin hole, put the tone ring and the damper back on, get the bolts started, advance the tone ring as far clockwise as it will go and then tighten one of the bolts while holding it where it's at. Then tighten everything back up and put the belt back on and you're good to go.

He's asking about the tone ring mod. Those pictures are the crank sensor (although some of the pictures do show the tone ring).

The tone ring is that thing with the "teeth" on it.

 

yep Hoss, i mostly wanted to show him clearance and the room he has to work.

i could not get my motor to stop turning (automatic) and could not get a real impact in there to break them loose.
