Suspension gurus please chime in

Hey guys my truck has a 4" Superlift kit in it that the PO put in and I don't know diddly about this stuff.
I would like to lower the rear about 1" or so but looking at it it looks like it might not be to easy due to the air bags.

(If I did this right there is a picture above LOL)
Above the lift blocks there are 2 short 1/2" thick pieces of what looks like leaf spring (these don't show up in the parts list from SL) are these stock or have they been added and can I pull them?
I thought if I removed these it would level out the truck enough but looking at the air bags there is a spacer that the bump stop would normally bolt to that would need shortening also correct, or could I get away with leaving that as is?

You can just remove the leaf spring looking spacers. That is what I did on my truck. wonthave any negative effects on the bags.

Thanks Riverbound, are those stock spacers or were they added by the PO?

Those are part of the factory overload springs. You can remove them but it will make your truck sag more with a load. It shouldn't change your ride. I can't see that they flex at all. You will need to buy new U-Bolts! Don't reuse the old ones, they stretch and are not reusable. If you buy the u-bolts at a 4x4 shop check to see what to torque them down too. Recheck the torque after the first 100 miles of driving.
