Billet intermediate or stock?

Hey guys, just got some wicked 150hp nozzles put in and that really woke it up..its sick now. Well I managed to snap my intermediate shaft a day after i put them in with the smarty on 3 This is the second intermediate I have broke in june(bad month) i guess. I keep hearing that the stock is suppose to be very strong, and it has been known to flex or twist without breaking under extreme conditions rather than just break like a billet shaft. What is everyones thoughts on this? Should I go billet or try my luck with a stock one again? Thanks

I was getting ready to go to a big event locally, just trying to see what feels like the best settings, I floored it from a dead stop when the turbos lit it spun hit 2nd gear spun a little more then boom. 30 minutes before I was suppose to make my first 12 second pass ugh better close to home than at the track I suppose.

It seems like something is wrong if you're breaking intermediate shafts just punching it. I'd get that looked at before putting another one in. I've got the stock intermediate in my DTT tranny and I get on it HARD pretty much every time I go for a drive in my truck (I have over 50,000 miles on the tranny). We have pretty similar setups, so it kinda makes me think something else is wrong. If you were doing boosted launches, that would make sense. But not from just getting on it.

I drive mine pretty hard sometimes, and have done alot of boosted launches with it couple of them have been around 24psi. Maybe it was just its time to go? I dont know. This is the second shaft in 21k miles so im starting to wonder. I know why the first one broke, I turned the shift defuel off on smarty and tried to launch at 35psi boost like an idiot, building that much boost i believe i passed the stall speed of my converter which is why my truck started to twist a little then boom. So that was my fault i had no idea what i was doing. But this last time i never saw that coming especially the tires screaching in 2nd gear

I didn't realize the other one let go on a boosted launch. It mightve just been it's time to go, then. I wouldve gone with a billet intermediate, but DTT had been seeing alot of broken billet intermediates at the time I did my build, so they said the only thing theyd install was stock. If I ever break mine, I'll definitely be going with an Opie shaft.
