Surging Trans temp

for the past few weeks, my trans temp guage will surge (ping out both ways) every now and then. It mainly does it when i am sitting still. it will occationally do it while i am driving. I tried tightening all the fittings in my line where the sensor is. I am thinking its airbound or there is air getting into the line somehow.

Any suggestions?

My guess is your power module is going bad. Happened to me last year. Went from Rockford Ill. to Dubuque IA. (2hrs) , kept stopping to check level & feel dipstick ( seeing if 200*) temperature was all over the place 100* to 240*. Every time level good & could hold my hand on dip stick. I put a sticky note over gauge for the rest of trip. Called Dieselmanor and they had to send a new gauge, module and probe since they were calibrated togeather. Been fine ever since.

I assume it's an electric gauge that uses an electric sender? If so, be sure to check your ground(s) before replacing anything.

My outlook reads like 70 degrees give er take a little all the time no matter what. Buddy thought it might be the Outlook needing an update, but I'm wondering if it isn't more after reading this. Any thoughts?

What are your "normal" driving Temps???

I recently installed Mag-Hytec diff cov & DD Trans Pans...

Trans usually runs 125-140 hotest I've seen is around 150

Rear about the same as above. notice it does run warmer then the trans when
pulling a trailer but never really above 150.

I'd love to know what the temps were b/4 the added fluid of these new pans. My trans is now 9 qt and rear 8 qt. considerably more then stock...

Thanks in advance guys.

Peace

Check the wire, if its grounding out aginst something, or cut itself on the hole through the firewall it would spike.
Full groud = full peg of the gauge.
