I recently became a suncoast vendor. I'll note to everyone reading this, The service and support over at suncoast is top notch! Very Knowledgeable and friendly staff! Even your performance parts shop may have questions from time to time , Suncoast provides the ABSOLUTE BEST support to vendors and retail customers of ANY Company I have ever worked with on trannys!
If your considering dealing with these folks, I see it as a no risk descision... Sorry for the long post ,
Just my $.02

I run a suncoast converter and flexplate and they seem to do really well so far. I dont fully agree with the built allison againist the 48re. many built dodge trannies hold power for long stretches just like any other built allison. I think the stock allisons are a joke personally. they will fail just like a 48re will.
my tranny is built but its holding some power at the moment also. I hope to know more soon what the truck has to say exactly what its holding

The Suncoast Stage V Allisons are safe at around 800 RWHP According to what I've seen! There Both good trannys but the allison is a diffrent animal All on its own! We run them in our Work and Tow trucks and they have offered great service!
By no means do I feel there a joke, I've got dyno sheets for a 10,000 lb work truck at 467 rwhp on a stock tranny? Of course its going and its very weak but , Its still going

If that costs what I think it costs...... Isn't it around twice as much as a full billet 48re from the big vendors? It may technically be a better transmission but I don't think it's THAT much better.

The Core on a 6spd is MUCH higher than a 5 spd. There really not to terribly expensive, And not much more expensive than a 48re! The conversion I'm sure would be a daunting expensive task, One that has been considered for my silver truck!

Is your buddies truck a 2wd or 4wd? If it's 4wd drive did you use the dodge t-case or the Chevy NV 261/3? Some pic would be great, I'm looking to go from my NV 5600 to a Allison in the next year or so.

A 6spd, With core all the way, Converter & cooler ( In other words) Everything that sounds about right It wouldnt be hard to find a salvage with a 5 or 6 spd allison for core!

Sorry Been BUSHHOGING the farm just got a chance to replie to this. He went with the 5spd save some cash! rpms are way down fuel is up aslong as you keep your FOOT OUT OF IT Like mysterync said Stage V Allisons are safe at around 800 RWHP By the time you figure GEARVENDER underdrive and a built 48re trans your talking some big bucks. As soon as i move some of my toys out im doing the same.
