A stupid Smarty question

So I'm looking to get a programmer for my truck, and the Smarty is the top choice on my list.

While some boxes are hard-wired into the factory wiring harness, it appears as though the Smarty is installed just long enough to reprogram the ECM...is this the case?

Also, I'm pretty happy with the way the truck runs now. Is there a way to save the current program as a baseline? I'd hate to lose the current tune if there's no way to save it.

I've done searches for this, but type in "Smarty" and you get 1000's of posts (none of which answered my questions)

Thanks!

No, that is not correct. The Smarty does not save the stock program that is currently in your ECM. The Smarty already comes loaded with the stock program loaded in its firmware. So when you reload the stock program back to your truck, you are actually loading the stock version that came with the Smarty. MadsElectronic keeps this firmware updated with the latest program that Dodge has released, so you do not have too worry about losing any functionality if you ever revert back to stock. I have the Smarty and love, no problems so far!

Hello,

I have a question also. If you buy a used Smarty does the warranty still apply. I know Bob And Marco would help over the net but what if a malfunction with the unit actually occurred. Would it be covered? My guess is no?

Are you sure about that? Smarty claims to be the only product that Dodge techs can not detect. If it re-installs a "Smarty" stock program, it seems like the techs would recognize it as not being the original "stock" program.

I'm just sayin.....
