Stock 2007 w/Smarty Revo towing 10K what setting for mileage??? I searched I promise.

Just spent a few hours reading various mileage and smarty threads and WOW there are a lot of them. Many of you guys helped me out when my truck was stolen, thank you again.

I now have a Smarty Sr. (at least for now sent by accident ordered a jr.). I saw highgear post that SW#3 TM#2 Timing #4 RP#2 and wastegate off was good for mileage without a load.

I'm leaving this weekend to roadrace motorcycles and have a 500mi each way trip where I will be towing a 10K pound tow behind toy hauler.

I don't have gauges yet but wanted to know what would be the best setting strictly for mileage towing? Would the above forumla work or would I be looking for EGT trouble?

Thanks
Z

I like the lower TMs for towing. If you are running an automatic the shifts seem to happen at lower RPM the higher you go on the TM setting. I found that it would bog on higher TMs where the lower TM's had the engine spinning fasterr and keeping EGTs down.

Yes my truck is an automatic. So what do you recommend as the setting and what kinds of EGT's and mileage are you getting while towing?

Towing that weight SW3 is all I'd go(without gauges). I pull about 9-9.5K TH and my EGTs are way higher when I run stock. I pulled my TH with SC's programmer for a long time before I got my smarty and I didn't have gauges either.

Just don't bog it too much as that's when egt's climb about as fast as your boost will.haha

Yes, I'm with you on the SW level being set a 3 but what other adjustments for timing and others will yield the best mileage? Also what improvement can I expect?

Thanks for the replies!!!!

i towed with mine on SW3 only about 5k, i had timing set on 4 for fuel mileage, not a good setup IMO. It smoked like crazy, it does much better on SW5 and default on everything.

I tow on level 3 with stock or mild TM (after market turbo verison with the stock turbo). I get 10-13mpg towing a 16k Fifth in the mountains (3000rpm in second for 45 minutes followed by 45 minutes of riding the exhaust brake in second)
