SpynTec free spin hub pics.
I actually throw mine in 4-lo sometimes without the hubs locked in for low gearing in 2wd when backing trailers around in tight spaces. Never seems to be a problem going that slow but i've always wondered what would happen in 4hi without the hubs locked in. Wouldn't the drive shaft, fron diff and axle shafts just spin without putting power the wheels. If I grab the front driveshaft and just spin it by hand nothing bad happens, axle shafts just spin. Not sure how you would get feedback in t-case if hubs aren't locked?
Try it and see...trust me, you WILL get instant feedback. If the front driveshaft is not turning at the same speed as the rear, and you move to engage the lever, it will be quite noticeable.
UnrulyNFS any updates?
That solid axle kit looks like it might be the nicest one out there. How do you like the MileMarker lockouts and how are they holding up? Anything you don’t like about the kit or wish they had done differently? How well do you think it seals out the elements, especially where the stub shaft goes into the back of the spindle?
The freespin kit on my truck (from a different mfg) has been a disappointment since the day I opened the box it came in. I want to replace it eventually, but only if the new kit will not have all the issues my existing kit has had.

There were several issues with the initial quality and also during the install of the kit I bought about 3 years ago from a different manufacturer. The long term issues with that kit on my truck are the Warn lockouts becoming loose and rattling (the mounting screws were tight) and water getting into the hub through the back of the spindle even though the hubs were never submerged or used for offroading.
Any long term mileage gain to report?
I too am interested in improving longevity and servicability, but to justify any kit need some feedback on long term mileage gains. With 2mpg improvement and 20,000 miles a year it is only ~124 gallons saved... Thanks. And let us know on the SpynTec unit!
