South Bend, OF or DD3600

I'm preparing myself for a clutch up-grade. Currently running the ofe, maybe it will last if not I need some wisdom on the other options avaliable.
I do tow a travel trailer in the summer months so parking and routine driving are important factors in my decision.

oh yeah my wife drives the investment time to time.

My vote goes to DD Peter says it is much more streetable than the FE. Is'nt there also a DD3850 or something?

I mailed Southbend about a single OFE converison or a Dual disc. He said the sprung DD is the most firendly high performance clutch he sells. I am just going with is advice and spending the dough. It dies put other mods behind financially, but I want to get a nice clutch in the and be done with it. I have had a racy clutch before and my wife could not even think about driving the truck. But it never slipped a bit, even w/3rd gear dumps. FYI, Lary Elis from the DTR store is a great guy to deal with and will give you a nice deal, which ever way you go.

Thanx.

with the power you already have i think that the dual disc would benifet you better than the OFE. also if you do tow often and your wife drives the truck on occation, i would recommend the 3250 pressure plate that way you dont have a very stiff pedal.

My wife drives mine and I push snow and tow with the sprung hub. Pete was not kidding. It is the most streetable high performance clutch he has.

I had a 3600 unsprung in my 01. It is very streetable. I towed a 42' gooseneck all the way down to a 18' car hauler. I didn't have any problems once the clutch was broke in. I tried backing a trailer after the clutch only had about 500 miles on it and it about bucked me out of the pickup. Once I had a couple thousand miles I didn't have any problems with backing. My wife also did not have any problems driving the pickup.

I have to use 4low with mine when backin up a steep hill or backin a trailer up a hill. Maybe I am just not hard enough on it but it does get a little jerky from time to time.

I guess I need some more 3rd gear burn outs...

My vote is for the DD

Definately get the 3250. VERY easy on the street. Stronger than both my FE's and smoother.

I say stick with the 3600, pedal pressure is not that much more than the ofe, and I too use 4low when backing the trailer, makes it like an auto.....real slow and deliberate.
