sounds like a bunch of air

I have took the cat off and replaced with a mbrp cat test pipe and installed the little direct fit muffler thay have. I have hardly any exhaust note sounds mostly like baffled air comeing out put the cat back on and got a nice tone back. so same deal bought the 41 inch donaldson and same thing sound like a bunch of air, the exhaust has no leaks what so ever. Any way to get rid of that muffled air sound comeing out the exhaust pipe with out that nasty black cat?

Are you talking about the sound at wot? Get a bigger turbo, like a 62-14. The exhaust does not sound good being forced through a 9cm housing and tiny wastegate.

I upgraded turbo's and it sounded sweet!

Will make the sound resonate more and give a slightly deeper tone. Note huge but noticable.

My exhaust pipe outlet on my bone stock '03 sounds like that. Kind of like a whoosh sound. Gas and heat are really coming out too.

I can't see changing anything with the mileage I can get like this.

Which way did you install the muffler?

Are the louvers "grabbing" the exhaust or is it set up to the openings on the louvers are towards the rear of the truck?

I don't have a pic of the exhaust wheel on a stock turbo, but once you see it you'll see why you have that noise. Once you get a nice turbo with a big exhaust housing you'll hear the motor better. On some turbos you'll hear the turbine whine. Saaaawwweeeeeeet!!! I miss my II SPS62.

I hear the turbos with the 71 wheel is really nice sounding out the exhaust...
