So what is the cheapest way to get a 14sec truck?

I was just reading another thread about a Cummins vs Nissan 350z and it got me thinking. What would it take (cheapest) to get a truck into the low 14s and still be able to tow.

do the cp3 mod your self thats free, strong programmer, air intake, muffler and cat delete, and a fuel system and if you can drive that thing then youll be there, maybe quicker. if you shop around and get good prices all that should cost around $1200. but thats not including gauges and you probably want those first.

A good programmer and some tranny mods and a auto will go 14's. maybe a few other things and it won't take much.

My friend has a 2005 q/c 2500 short bed 4x4. His mods are 5inch exhaust, intake, mp-8, trans, fass, and the OLD bully dog programmer (which I think was much hotter than what bullydog offers now). It's just set on extreme and not crazy larry.
I wouldn't of believed it if I didn't see it myself, but somehow he is able to run 13.2s all night long. I wouldn't of thought this would do it, but somehow it does!

My truck ran a 14.6 at 93 with just a bully dog programmer on extreme (130hp). If I could've launched harder, it would have been low 14s. Trans would need to be done.

A Smarty alone will get you into the 14's easily. Probably high 13's if you launch hard.

Tranny mods would be a good idea though. You're not going to get too many of those 14 second runs in before the stocker dies.

We ran 13.40s with Smarty beta an X2 on an otherwise stock 07 truck with the exception of a diy lockup switch at Houston diesel nationals. We also had 06 with Smarty beta,TST,5",an S&B combo that went 13.03 at 104 but I wouldn't advice towing or doing this often with stock tranny an turbo.

Bullydog Tripple dog or Smarty + intake and Exhaust and you are there.
Do your trans if you want it to last.
