Question Smarty Level 9 Requirements

Hey guys,

just as the title says i'm looking to put together little list...here are my thoughts for mods to support using the Smarty on level 9 all the time (daily drive), I was just wanting to make sure i was correct in my thinking. This will be on the truck in my sig:

1) built tranny (got it)
2) big line kit
3) modded exhaust (no muff, got it)
4) gauges (got it)
5) turbo? (62/65-13)
6) sticks?
7) after market air filter/intake (not sure about this one, everybody has an opinion)
8) fuel pump (would look at the air dog)

did I miss anything, should I consider any additional items are the above all needed? Ya'lls opinions are greatly appreciated..

I run mine on 9 for a DD, I do have to be careful, I can peg the gauge if I'm not. Not that careful, tho. I think if my sticks were a little smaller, I'd be fine.

Agree with the CP3 Parts or greater being needed, maybe throw in a rail cap (optional), quad boost fooler (if get turbo, which you should for level 9)....

What's a rail cap?

Also, if i'm draining the rail how can you tell? Does rail pressure drop to zero? I do have a rail pres gauge.

From what I understand the 62/65/13 is a good turbo for right up to or close to 600hp with managable egts...and makes a decent turbo for twins as well.

I have been runningTNT SW9 for over a year as a DD with the mods in my sig. No problems at all. With the 62/65/13ss I have I rarely see 1250* EGT hauling my camper over the mountains. Empty I can only get 1436* EGT in a 1/4 mile.

I have been running my Smarty on level 9 for about 60K miles......and almost that long with the MP8 on too....at 100 percent, daily driving, towing too.

The main thing is to have really good fuel filtration to protect your injectors whether or not they are stock or aftermarket.

With stock sticks I personally don't think you need a CP3 upgrade. Im still on the stock turbo too...but looking for an upgrade.

I think a 62/65 is a little small to run 600 on fuel only. But I'm not saying it cant be done. I can only imagine how high the EGTs would be though..

I love that TexasCTD's truck has been running what everyone says will kill your engine and has had nothing but good luck with it. And 506 on stock injectors and turbo is awesome!

With an auto, anything above a 62/65 is going to have lag / pre-boost smoke issues....with a manual...agree, go for a 64/65 or 62/71.....

With the setup in my sig, i woulndt go any bigger than the turbo i have....and even it is tough with smoke when it's 100*+ outside...have to be consience of the throttle....

Rail cap is just to ensure you didnt pop your stock rail pressure relief valve....when running / having run above stock rail pressure....

Exclamation Safe?? Smarty level 9 with the mods below

Hi everyone, im new to this page first of all, my first post so trying to still manage to use it. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a 3rd gen Cummins 2005 2500 And i have a Smarty tunner on it (Currently running level 6) My question is

IS IT SAFE TO RUN YHE SMARTY ON LEVEL 9????

I bought the truck not long ago, and it had some mods already done to it. So i dont know exactly what all has been done but here is the run down on what i know has been done so far, including the mods i did my self.

5" Exaust to a 7" Stack
Cold air intake
Head studs
3 month old Rebuilt transmission
Triple disc torque converter
2 month old motor

So far thats all that i know of that has been done. With that being said is it safe to run level 9 with out messing things up with those mods??
