Smarty JR Towing Question???
Can someone give me an impression towing a moderate load (10-12K) with the Smarty JR. I have the quad standard towing at the 60hp setting but I'm considering the Smarty JR. Not too much towing experience in the search link for the Smarty JR yet.
I like the quad but sometimes I wish I had a little more power and some lower egts to boot. Thank You.

You don't mention if you have any tranny upgrades. I can tell you, tranny strength issues aside, you should have no problems towing on highest setting of smarty. Egts might be the only thing depending on conditions. Then, if it is too high with smarty, it will be too high with anything else too and you need a turbo.

No tranny upgrades. I've had the Quad standard for two years now. Was just wondering if anyone has had the chance to tow with the Smarty Jr.yet. I read a couple of posts where they were testing real world fuel mileage, but nothing on towing yet. Thank You.

I helped beta test the Smarty Jr files. It is very smooth and tows great. The only caveats are what I wrote above. I towed close to 10k but I also have twins. EGTS were very low for me, will be somewhat higher for you. I can still say you won't get a downloader with that much power that tows with lower egts. THe question is only whether you have enough air for the weight you have. I believe you do.

There was a post recently where someone gave a towing report on the Smarty Jr.
I believe they were using the middle setting and pulling about 11k. They reported that they were able to maintain the speed limit and didn't get over 1100 degrees.
With that said I don't remember what terrain they were towing on and other mods to the truck.
From what I've heard Marco and Bob really have it going on with the new programs that come with the Jr. When I get healed up I'm going to download those on my Smarty and give them a try. They seem to be the stuff, low EGTs, low smoke and good power!
Hope that helps somewhat.

I towed with my smarty jr last night. Set on the 40 hp setting, towing about 5-6k. I put it to the floor up hill from 45 to 75 mph and could only get the egts to get to about 1280 for just a second, then they started to drop about the time i let off.
On the 40 hp setting, it is super smooth and has plenty of power. It might not be as strong as the 65hp quad xzt i used to have, but i can stay in the power a lot longer because the egts stay so much cooler. I love it so far.
