Smarty jr. and nv5600
What's the consensus on running the "performance" setting on a stock clutch? Also just running the tow setting when I am grabbing gears the thing sometimes will rev up to 3800 b/t shifts, is this normal? I assume it's b/c of all the pressure in the rail at WOT.
Last what kind of EGTs do you all see on the performance setting?
Thanks, Eric

I thought these trucks were limited to less than 3800, does the jr. modify this or is it just the fact all that rotational mass wants to keep spinning when throwing in the clutch or grabbing the next gear? Any thoughts on EGTs in the performance setting?
To Mikey, thanks for answering my posts you've answered a lot of them for me.

I know with the Smarty Sr. Revo program the RPM limit is 3,500 and assume it's the same for the Jr. Wouldn't go much higher than that for long periods of time with the stock valvetrain.

I only have a smarty jr for a mod on my truck. I have had it on level 3 for years. Stock clutch with 429,000 kms. No slippage at all. Just towed my TT with a combined weight of 17,000 lbs. Maybe I have a good stock clutch......

The nv5600 clutch is WAY stronger than the 5spd clutch was. I always tow on 100 hp, 1225 max egt, and the clutch isn't even close to slipping. I've gotten daring and towed on 200/400, 1350+ egt, and the clutch took it but I waited til 1900+ rpm before hitting it hard. I can run 200/400, any gear or rpm, as long as I keep the smoke reasonably in control. Craig
I have been looking at buying a smarty jr for my 04.5 6 speed and was worried about not having a set of gauges in the truck yet. Would i be ok for a while as long as i did not go crazy? I am not looking for gigantic amounts of easy horsepower just a little more oomph for when ya need it and maybe some fuel mileage. I put gauges in my 92 before i turned the pump up on it so i know its a good idea to be safe. Its just money doesen't allow buying both right now.

I have gauges in my 98 12v. Been driving my 04.5 for 6 years without gauges. I really should get some one day. I would think you should be fine without gauges. But get em when you can afford them if you are really concerned.
