Smarty Jr with no gauges?

I know it's beating a dead horse, but... I don't tow very heavy and I'm too old to hot rod. Just looking to hear if anybody has had problems with running the Jr. with a stock truck and no gauges.

gauges would be best but I've run my jr on tow for 80,000 miles with no gauges. Use common sense & you'll be ok

I have run my Smarty for 135,000 miles with gauges and those gauges have told me I don't need gauges.

If you are driving fairly conservative and not towing heavy or in harsh conditions you "Should" be OK without gauges. But they sure do give me piece of mind when I am towing!!

You can get into trouble if you tow heavy up a steep hill and lug the engine...keep the rpms up and you keep the heat at bay

You can see this for yourself empty by lugging up a hill in high gear it will start pouring out the smoke, that means it is dumping fuel and fuel means heat.

Drop a gear or kick it out of overdrive and you will see the smoke go away.

No gauges; I don't tow at all and don't hot rod... I drive lots of curvy mountain roads and just use power when needed to pass slower vehicles. Had the Jr. for about 65K and no problems. If anything, the truck has run far better from the first day I loaded the Smarty than it ever did stock.

I limit my towing to 18,000 pounds or so.... 26,000 gross.

It is nice to see the EGT's and be sure you don't run those too high for too long, but the smoke is a pretty good sign also.

The Smarty makes your injectors last longer!!! 150K and mine are still going.

I have had the Smarty Jr on my truck without gauges for about 5 years. Most of the time on the performance setting. No issues that I am aware of.... Because I have no gauges!

507,000 kms on original injectors and still running and sounding awesome.

Been running the jr for a while now with only a fuel pressure gauge which I only installed in case I need to trouble shoot.
