silencer ring
Just a 3/4 round piece of spring steel that is in there to help tone done the whistle from the turbo when it spools up. I like the little extra sound it gives inside the cab. Doesn't do much of anything else.
Do a search on " silencer ring removal" theres a guy who posted a bunch of pics of the ring and the removal. Doesnt do anything but quiet down the turbo whistle. Non existent in anything else with the same motor except the ram. While your at it, remove the baffles in the big black tube in between the two elbows. Only a muffler to help shut the turbo up, this is where you'll gain the most turbo music

I 'finally' got around and removed the silencer ring this morning. Slightly more turbine whine.
So now I just order a piece of 5" aluminum tubing from Air Flow Systems to replace the intake baffle.

silencer ring and snap ring removed
trubo without the silencer ring
no performance gain whatsoever. just makes the turbo sing louder.
now that you have removed the silencer ring you need one of these:

Hey T-7 Firefighter, Where do you get the air intake tubing replacement from. Looks pretty clean. Gutted the baffles out but I'd like to replace it. Thanks.
