Shocks..

OK.. it's really time to change the shocks on my 03 LWB W3500 Quadcab..

I can get rancho 9000 adjustable units for 132 Canadian Dollars..

Bilsteins are the same price but they need to be ordered in 2-3 wks..

Which shocks give the better ride?? I tow my travel trailer and run around empty..

Does any one have the correct parts numbers for these???

I had 5000's, upgraded to 9000's and the lines leaked all the time.
Got new fittings, then new warranty shocks, leaked again, shocks failed again, running Bilsteins now...get the Bilsteins...well worth the wait.

not sure where your from, but the bilstien's were in stock at the place where i got mine.
i have a post on here some where, witht he part numbers for my 03 quad cab short box.
where ever you order them from should be able to tell you what the part numbers are.
i believe the fronts are the same as the older trucks and the rears are the same part number as a 6" lifted half ton truck.
you could call National 4x4, out of Burlington, thats where i got mine and they had them in stock
i am in Ontario, and their number is 1-800-575-7500.
hope this helps

Talked to Bilstein about their shocks for the 2004 and newer 2500 4x4's and they said that they are still in developement - the Germans take forever designing them he said. The HQ for Bilstein is in Ca. The shocks they have been selling are for the '01 and older trucks cause i gave him the part numbers and he knew them right away. Most have said they ride fine with these older model shocks. They also mentioned that the reason for the vibration was that the frame of our trucks was NOT rigid enough therefore produces a vibe which he said the new shocks will help eliminate this vibration problem. My truck luckily does not have the VIBE. Just passin on what i have researched................we will see in about 6-12 months that was his time frame on the Bilsteins being produced and ready for sale in the U.S. I hope they hurry up, they are excellent shocks and i cant wait.

I carry both the Bilstein's and the Rancho's. And will readily admit that I can't do the 5100's for Edit shipped simply because I'm not a company the size of shox.com. On the other hand, my price Edit plus shipping usually puts the total around Edit or so depending on where you live, and I am also a sponsor here, *and* drive a Cummins 2500 4x4 too (unlike shox.com on both counts). Though I notice it only says "member" under my name, not DTR advertiser. News to me if I'm not because I have been and never asked to stop.....

Simply put I'd like to think that support of the site is worth something, and if you have any questions or issues I'm easy to find and understand your truck too.

Coobie,

I've been told that the shock numbers you posted are actually for the 1500's with a 2" lift.

Last week, I called Bilstein and was told that the shocks "dedicated" to our trucks will be out next month. I, also, heard the same story at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, last year. I, also, heard that Bilstein was having some kind of problem with these new shocks and that is why it is taking them so long to get product on the shelf.

Just thought I'd pass on the "rumors & propaganda" that I had heard.

Buffalo, that is the same thing I heard. I need some new shocks but fear that as soon as I place an order with Sam and get them installed, Bilstein will debut the new, super improved, indestructible shocks for my dually . What to do. Darned if you do, Darned if you don't

The current part number/model of Bilsteen 5100's work excellent with our trucks. I would not worry about what "other" Dodge truck they are shared with.
