Scotty 3 install?

Woohoo, mom bought me a scotty 3 for xmas, lol. She had no clue what it was but she knew I wanted it! Anyway there is one piece of it I can't seem to figure out. It's a plastic piece with a cone type shape and what look like two little prongs or legs. The kit didn't have any instructions, and the online instructions didn't mention the part, or show how to install it in the truck. Just wondering if I was missing the instruction sheet or what was up. Thanks. Can't wait to hook it up!

I can help

Tech support can be handled by either myself or Sheep boy Rod.

Sorry for the install issue.

That cone piece slips insde the housing and the long legs will sit at the bottom of the bottom half of the air box. You will see two elongated indents on the bottom half...the long legs of the cone rest in those up against the raised indents. On the top you will see a smaller indent and this is where one of the smaller cone tabs rests to hole it in place.
What you do is hold the cone in place and slide the filter into the air box and then into the cone. The cone is held in place by the filter and vice versa.

I'll post a few pix on here that I have that might help.

Scotty thanks, that was enough, thanks. I just went and put it together and it all fits well. Very cool unit!! I'm excited to put it on. I'm going to try to wait a little while for my original air filter to get dirty/wear out since it's brand new, and install the scotty at 15k. We'll see how long I hold out waiting

Scotty, can a k&n cleaner and oil recharge kit be used to clean/oil the AFE filter?

Another pic

This pic shows the pieces of the system.

The black powder coated pipe with sensor mount needs to have the end cap placed over it.

This is a really tight fit...take your time and it will slide over the pipe.

Put the gear clamp on the large red rubber air filter end. When you have the 1" end of the coupler pipe all the way into the air filter, tighten the gear clamp on the red rubber to ensure you have a good seal.

The cone goes inside the air box as described in the above post and the filter is inserted into the cone in the air box at the same time.

Be sure to have the cone in its proper position and have the filter inserted into the cone evenly.

You can rotate the filter in the cone gently while its in the air box to assist with lining up the sensor mount.

Then put the coupler pipe into the turbo intlet hose while positioning the fender inlet in the factory fender inlet hole.

Tighten the factory turbo inlet hose clamp and its installed.

The system rests in there just fine.

I was originally shipping the system assembled. However, I decided not to do this for a few reasons...one being that the filter should arrive in a sealed wrapper to the customer to elminate any kind of risk of contamination no matter how low the risk.
And two was so that the end user became familiar with how it gets assembled now so that when dismantling for cleaning one has already had the experience of putting it together and is familiar with the unit.

I have better install instructions being completed and my primary focus is to have all these concerns resolved for the new year.

PM me if you have any concerns or questions.

Thanks

Scotty

Question COOOoooOoOoooL

When I asked aFe or K&N if one or the other could be used I did not get an answer...
I guess they don't want to say yes. LOL

I know of a few folks that have done this with no problem.

There is a 'mount' for the sensor on the powder coated coupler.
Remove the sensor from the stock set up [leave it hooked up], place it in the hole on the coupler mount and use the factory screws and secure it down tight.

I attached a pic of the sensor removed from the factory box...
