Re:scottyIII?

Will installing the ScottyIII air intake system void any part
of the 7/70 on a 2003 HO 2500HD?????
Does it meet or exceed Cummins requirement for proper
air filtration???

Re:scottyIII?

I don't believe that the filter in a scotty III meets the Cummins specs. Many guys run them with no problems but, if you want to change things you must be prepared to be your own waranty station.

Re:scottyIII?

Does anyone make a high flow aftermarket drop in
panel filter that meets Cummins specs?

Dont you have to drill a hole in you inside fender
to use the Scotty III correctly? I thought I read that
somewhere.

Re:scottyIII?

It is my understanding it exceeds the filtration requirements and definitely gives more flow. My dealer did not object, in fact commented on the huge filter and that Dodge could take some lessons from other companies - - it would not cost as much to make a RamAirIII as the factory unit.

Re:scottyIII?

The hole drilling is only on the 2nd gen using the Scotty II.
The Scotty Ram Air 3 is a bolt in install.
As for the Aftermarket air filter question, anything that deviates from bone stock can affect your warranty.

Ed, you make a great point here. Cummins and Dodge intensely dislike any kind of oil based filter, whether the manufacturer says it meets or exceeds Cummins/Dodge spec or not. In order for the filter to not void a warranty, the filter would have to be put through standardized testing by an independent facility. To the best of my knowledge, aFe, K&N, Green or any of the other filter manufacturers have not done this.

http://www.wildcatdiesel.com/ra3.htm has a shot of the Ram Air III installed on an 03. Its not a great pic of the entire underhood, as we ran out of room on the web page, but it should give you a little better understanding of how it looks.

Please note, this is an older version of the RA3 with the filter minder in the wrong spot :-[
