running no muffler

hey i have always heard that diesels don't need back pressure and i even went to a store and asked about taking the muffler off and they said it was ok...now i'm starting to think its not for some reason...i have an 03 2500 cummins HO...sorry for the newbie question.

Removing the muffler will only make it louder (and oh so much sweeter) and allow the engine to remove heat quicker. Turbodiesels don't need any backpressure like a normally asp. gas engine.

No muff, no kitty... sweetest sound in the world. Don't forget to open up the intake up front too (BHAF). If you can keep your foot out of it, you'll see an increase in MPG's too.

I have heard with the 4" exhaust and no muffler AND no kitty you can get a drone. I left my kitty in and it still sounds sweet.

If you take all that muffler crap off, don't forget to take out the silencer ring (whistle ring). Do a search, you'll find a bunch of threads on it. Wanna hear your turbo work? Loose that too. And none of these mods will hurt a thing. In all truth, you need to cut that stock pipe out and run a 5 inch! Your buddies will appreciate that!!!
