Can you remove the black cover on top of an 06 like you can an 05 and run it with the bare metal cover and vent showing??? Is that what is under the black plastic on the 06's??? Anything I should know what holds the plastic on??? Thanks

 

If its the same as an 05,just 4 bolts(10mm socket) and thats it.You will see the breather box a tube though.

matego has done it (if i recall correctly) and has pics. I think he re-routed the breather tube and it looks clean.

On a 06 you can not run it without the black plastic. The black plastic is the upper valve cover, it is not a dress up part. Tim

Tim please explain upper valve cover so if you pull the plastic you see springs injectors oil lol thanks for the help

 

The pictures shown are 03-05 trucks.06 and 07s the upper valve cover/ breather are one piece all plastic. If you remove the platic top on a 06 you will see rockers, springs and inj wiring harness. 03-05 have the plastic piece that is nothing but a breather cover / dress up piece. Tim
