All New Replacement OE Intercoolers Come With Plastic Caps?
All New Replacement OE Intercoolers Come With Plastic Caps?
I went to the Dodge dealer today to ascertain what the cost of a new intercooler was (mine was ruined in a wreck Sat if you haven't read that thread) to see if it would be much less than a good aftermarket one. In which case I would have them put a good one in instead of another stocker if the price was similar.
Anyways they said there was a superceded number that replaced the intercooler part # that is in my truck, and it was $717. I am afraid this might be the crappy plastic end cap models found on trucks newer than mine. But I also don't want to spend another $4-600 bucks to get an aftermarket one after her insurance pays for my factory one.
If it is the plastic one and I continue to run my Smarty Jr when I get it all fixed up, what risk do I run?

Awesome, thanks, that makes me feel a lot better. I didn't want to have to shell out for an aftermarket one that bad when my EGTs are fine, and didn't want to worry about those plastic caps....

Hopefully they fired that engineer.
