same problem

I have the same problem. I installed the Python 881XP by DEI. The guy who installed it first took me to the cleaners and nothing worked except for the door locks. They gave me the run around so many times I just said screw it and took it someplace else.
This new guy ripped out the whole alarm and started over removing exceses wire and cleaned up the whole thing. Now eveything works but it starts around 3 seconds of the light coming on, so I need to take it back. Like I said I have the Python 881XP and it says that I need to adjust the internal timer. So I think the alarm it's self has a built in timer that can wait from 1 too 30 seconds. I'm taking it back on monday and will post the end results.

Happy New Year to all

Bill

I have had mine on for about 6 months. The missing part is a relay. The part number is a 528T Pulse Timer Relay by DEI, who manufacturs VIPER and pretty much everything else. This is posted by DEI on there install Tech page, (friend has been installer for 20 years). This will give you an adjustable time from 0-90. I have mine set for 30 seconds and have never had a problem, even in 10 degree weather.

That is the correct part# that I use on most diesel installs. Dodge and Ford both need this in order to with the diesels. If there is a place on the Dodge to hook up the wait to start wire, I have never heard about it and either has DEI. If been installing DEI product for 15 years and theie dealer tech is the best in the business. The wait to start timer on the 881xp is not a time output, the timer your installer is talking about is the 528t timer.
