Quick torque Smarty Jr. question

What is the "default" value for all three programs in relation to the torque 1 - 4 setting (version 5.10) assuming 1-is stock, 2-mild, 3-light, 4-least.

Last, does the POD reduce power in the entire RPM range or just down low?

wrong, 4 would be the most low end power and go down from there

So where does "default" fit in the equation? I'm guessing somewhere b/t 3-4?

I thought default was 2 for TM and TQ. Unless i'm wrong. I think what confuses people about the TQ (torque management) is they think it is just torque. It is actually torque management. So:

1-is stock (stock torque)

2-mild torque management (which means least amount of torque from programmer)

3-light torque management ( which means somewhere in between torque from programmer)

4-least torque management (which means most torque from programmer)

So what you see is 1 stock, then from 2 - 4 torque increases as the number increases. I think a lot of people just think its torque (ie. 2. mild torque) which actually means mild torque managment giving you a slight increase in torque over stock. Hopefully it did not confuse you even more.

I'm just trying to grasp where Marco has the default assuming you don't mess with it. It sure feels more than 2 when you have it on default. I've got 115k miles on my 48re and I know its got more in it if I don't kill it with the torque management from the Smarty.

The tq settings actually depend on what version of the software you are using. It goes something like this:

5.08 most aggressive- 4, 3, 2, 1 -most like stock
5.09 most aggressive- 2, 3, 4, 1 -most like stock
5.10 most aggressive- 2, 3, 4, 1 -most like stock

The default setting is supposed to be the same as 2 on both tm and tq settings for each SW. I'm going to guess that you are running 5.08 and the default may actually be the same as tq4 since it feels more aggressive to you than tq2. The default tq setting was supposed to be the mild tq setting so it makes sense that it may be tq4 since it is the mild setting on version 5.08.

As far as POD goes, It reduces the fuel at all throttle positions and rpms. I hope this helps.

I'm running 5.10, just updated it last week. 4 is the most low end power or least amount of torque management. I had it backwards when I originally asked my question.

To me the default feels like more power or less torque management than 2, thus I was curious where the true default value lies on the 1-4 scale. I am guessing between 2 and 3 or 3 and 4 on version 5.10.

Thx,
Eric

I believe 2 is the low smoke programme, 3 is the beta 3 and 4 is the original programming, There is another long thread way back that spells it out way better in detail. I cant remeber which one it was.

The thread is "Smarty Jr Pod settings 101(for us slow folks)" I would have put a link to it but I just don't know how. If you go to search and copy and paste it will come right up for you. The thread has pretty much all you would want to know about the Smarty Jr. pod and its settings.
