Hey guys, i just got a Smarty for my new Magecab. I have a automatic and have been running the Smarty on 3 (60 HP with timing adding. The paper that comes with it says that is the highest safe level for my stock tranny. I want to run level 5 to play around a little. What are your thoughts? Also, what will be my best setting for towing my 20' boat and enclosed tralier? 1 (30Hp with timing)??

Thanks Mark

Oh yea, I'm now running 295 Terra Grapplers and have not reset my ABS. Should I just enter 33" for tire setting and be done with it? Sorry for the probably stupid questions but I'm new to the diesel scene.

NO funds left to do any tranny work now.

with oversized tires, there is even more stress put on that tranny. I would heed the advice, and wait until you have upgraded, that way you still have a trans to drive. If you kill it, either get the funds fast or park the truck.

So bassically I should take the box off or my opition is to replace the Torgue converter and valve body and labor $2,500.00??? I'm not into to killing me vehicles or drag racing them. I don't stomp on it at a red light. The 48RE can't hold together for weekend driving or pulling my boat?

I checkbook is really starting to hate dtr!
5 different levels of power, and those all have stock timing or added timing, plus there are three different levels of torque management.

It enables high idle, on a manual you have to ground the one ecm pin.

Boy, this thread grew in a hurry. Can't leave the board for even a day!

I don't notice the boost going any higher than stock, but it may get there a little bit quicker. It still peaks around 32-34psi and settles back at 28-29 sustained.

In regards to the boxes that add pressure (ie...EZ)....with my limited knowledge on Bombing............I would be careful about adding to much. A little pressure is ok, but alot is bad for extended intervals.

I plan to eventually add a TST R49 to mine and it is my understanding it can add pressure now, right?

I would get the SMARTY!!! Reliability? YES, because it doesn't seem to hurt anything pressure wise, makes the engine run smoooooth, great power and it plays well with other boxes, toys etc.

EZ adds pressure and can harm injectors. Ask Don M.

I have run my Smarty on level 7 with a completely stock tranny and have had no problems. It is all in how you drive it. IF you beat on it every day, it will fail.......no question about it. IF you drive sensible and just slowly lay into it after it has built up a little speed..........the stock 48RE can handle alot.

I towed 12,000lbs for about 1000 miles with Smarty on level 3 and my tranny is fine.

Man those Europeans have the right idea don't they, Bob? They have all kinds of holidays and vacations etc. compared to us overworked Americans. I think the average European has like 6 weeks of vacation annually compared to like 2 weeks here..........if you are lucky and have been on the same job for more than a year.

I am really enjoying my Smarty that I got, indirectly, from you via James. Thanks!

mark, if you plan to run the stock trans for a while longer, 2 things, get a trans temp gauge installed, and please for the love of pete, no boosted launches! no matter how much fun they are, critical components go snap that way! good luck and have fun.
