over the last few days my egt reading have been going all crazy acutally rite after i but the new stereo in, not to sure whats going on because if the truck is in park or driving at ne speed the egt's jump all over the place like up to say 1200 1300 1700 then rite back down or up
just wondering if neone else has had problems like this
and tonight my altenator gauge quit and im pretty sure the altenator craped out

 

The 2 might be related-when I was putting on my Edge, I managed to short the EGT wire (the steel braid part) across the driver's side battery terminals. I saw smoke coming from the plastic wire loom I wire tied the probe to, and figured out within seconds what I did-If you mounted yours on top of the fuse box this is a definite possibility, could be intermittent, but enough of a draw to mess some things up. Take a look at the EGT probe wire next to the batteries and make sure they are not shorted/blackened.

 

i was thinkin that or that the power wire for my amp was drawing and throwing off the edge

 

My suspect would be a bad ground.

 

bad ground on what tho the edge or the altenator or possibly both?

 

Sounds like the probe is bad. Mine did it I called Edge they sent me a new probe and problem fixed.
