Predator questions
I just installed a new 2004.5 stage 1 predator 80hp and 200lbs Torque and have a few questions. Am I safe if I drive conservatively and pull no more than 7k while staying on flat land? I plan on getting the gauges in the next few weeks and will install them to be safe. Also, has anyone bought the electronic gauge that works with the predator module to control the operation? It seems to turn the system off when there are high EGT conditions and turns it back on when the temp drops to safe levels.
Is it also recommended to go with the AFE air intake and torque tube with these mods?

Was planning on running it below 2000rpms until I get a gauge. I may have to look for a place to buy them here in Houston then. I know I probably won't hit high enough EGT's to do any harm, but I want to be safe.
So far I am really satisfied with the module. Low end power is what I was looking for and hopefully I will gain a few mpg's too.

Does anyone have real world EGT numbers with the Stage 1 on a 2004.5? If I constantly will have to watch the EGT gauges then I may have to rethink my plans.

real world here, don't even think about towing anything. They run fine with the truck empty, and egt cooldown is 1/2 with it. But put weight in it or behind it and expect trouble. I had my 4k dump trl empty and couldn't get out of 2 gear because of rocketing temps. I went home and gave it back to my buddy. I will be installing the juice tommorow, and with this no comparrision empty or towing.

predator 85 hp, 1/4 in the throttle 1200 and backed out enough to hit 2 nd gear. Cruising empty is fine 700 and full throttle 1100. The towing is what ruins it since you can only get out of the throttle and not turn it off in cab. If you tow forget it Get the the edge or something you can actually use.

I have had the stage 1 in my 2004, sorry not .5, for about 2 months and I really like it.
I have also had the gauges for the last 6 months. It is really easy to get to 1400 when I pull myTT 9000+/-.
It really pulls at 2300 + RPM, and no problem going up the big hills. On a really long 6-8% hill from Kelowna up to Merritt, I stayed at about 95-100km/hr in 5th at 90& throttle and thereby kept my temps at around 1300.
That was great, you should have seen the minivan drivers and lots of others when my 57' T-Train came up beside them!!
I drive about 70-75 mph/ 130km/hr most of the time when not towing and with an easy foot most of the time. That said I have noticed a small improvement in fuel economy over stock, 5% or so.

Well looks like I am going to be bringing it back then. I was under the impression according to some that posted information that the EGT's were not getting that high. Thanks for the info guys.

From what I've read here and other sites it seems that the high EGT's are coming out of the 2004.5. Could this be due to the converter? They do create alot of heat on there own. Could it be that pushing hot air thru a hot converter could cause the exhaust to retain the hot air keeping the EGT's high? Just a thought cause the 2004, 305/555 guys don't seem to have this issue or we just havn't heard from them yet. This is just a thought. Let me know what you think.

I will probably try it again after I do the air and gauges. I did notice that the new stage 1 does not have the MAP connector, but the stage II does.
