Question Is it Possible???

Can any of yall tell me how I can remove my factory installed clamped together exhaust without cutting it? What I want to try is to seperate the sections, somehow clean out the cat, and put it back up. Can this be done? I live here in Willis, TX now, and nobody will inspect it if there is no cat on it, so I figured I would leave it, just have it completely empty. Please give me some input yall, I have to have help on this one. Thanks yall.

Why not just cut it then weld it back up afterwards, or you could use some of those "band" type exhaust clamps that seal 360 deg. You can do butt splices on exhaust pipe with that type of clamp.

cat

why don't you cut the exhaust right after the cat, take a punch and beat the $hit outa the inside of the cat, crank the truck to blow it out and then have your local mufflers shop, or you, weld the pipe back on or a straight, ect.

If you had access to an oxy-acet torch you could heat it cherry red and beat on it with a BFH....

No problem

You'll need a torch. Just heat the outer pipe at each connection. At the muffler you can use a block of wood and a big hammer and knock it back. At other connections after heating I use an old large channel-lock and grabl hold and hit it right after taking the heat off the out pipe and it should come loose without damaging the pipe.

Don't know about your truck but mine had the factory clamps on so tight the tubes were crushed togeather.

After trying just about every thing here the sawsall came out and finished the job.

thanks yall, lol to some I think I am gonna try to cut it at both ends and then use the 4"clamps to place it back up, then let the shop weld it back on. Of course it is for off rd use only, off the rd I go!! I'll keep yall posted on how it comes and if it is even worth doing. My exhaust just smells like bad vineger, so this has to help!! Thanks again yall
