PML Trans & Diff Covers

Mark, no offense, but that sounds like a lot of salesmanship and marketing. Especially coming from the guy who said the DPPI exhaust 'wasn't that loud' Lets be straight - they are for looks and ease of changing fluid..
Also FYI, 03-04's that had the HO engine came with the 11.5 rear axle. S0's and gassers got the smaller one. So are you saying there is a difference between the 04 11.5 axle and the 04.5?? The Chevies use the 11.5 American Axle as well, which is why mag hytec just uses the same part. The spare tire clears if it's moved a bit. I'd be interested to hear from anyone that actually has this PML cover in regards to the spare tire.

cquestad,
From the info I have been given by lube experts at around 250 is where you get into trouble pretty quickly, but if you lower it below 230 you will extend it's life and the add packs in todays lubes will last longer. Ease of changing fluid is one of the main reasons to get a cover, but to lower temps and extend the miles between changes is more than worth it to me. We sell many more tranny pans and diff covers for the extra cooling effect than the ease of fluid changes. Then again as you mentioned they look really nice too. If you are in an off road situation all the time you could bust a cover, however if you hit something that hard in most cases you will push a stock steel cover into the gear set enough that it will grind thru in just a few revolutions. The rear cover would also be nearly impossible to hit something with as the spare tire is there and the housing is protecting the cover pretty well, not impossible but tough to do.

Lightman,
None taken it's still a free counrty, at least till the next election maybe??
The difference in diffs is based on the truck for the most part, the 2500's in 2003/04 use a 14 bolt 10.5 inch that uses PML part 10302. The 2003-2004.5's use a 14 bolt 11.5 that uses PML part #10361, you will notice PML doesn't use the same part as the Duramax (part#9511) as they want the part to be "correct" for the application even if it does cost to tool up and stock more parts. This is a guide as we have seen different axles than this on occassion. As I mentions to cquestad there are alot fo folks that get the covers for looks/fluid changes only, however we have more of them looking to lower fluid temps when they call and ask about the products.

I dont know if this is off topic but where is the best place to put your tranny sensor at? I have mine in one of the passenger side ports which works well and I havent had any problems but have been told about putting it in the cooler line and tried but couldnt get the gauge to work and then I have heard to put it in the tranny pan so I am just wondering what is the best place.
Thanks
Jim
