Phat Shaft 71

Im seriously considering getting this turbo for my 07. Ill be getting dual pumps to. Injectors, still up in the air. No smaller than 125s. Really thinking Flux 4s or 5s. Truck is daily driven. Will be hitting the track and probably some dynos relatively heavy this year. At least as much as my oilfield job will allow. Dont tow. Dont haul anything. Although I do have a fourwheeler, and looking into getting a couple sleds and a trailer for them.

What can I expect from the PS 71 and what size injectors should be run? Am I off on my F4 or F5? Looking for 7-800 right now, but will get more on fuel later. Probably will spray over 1000 this year. Atleast thats how itll work inside my head .

Give me your input fellas (and ladies.) Thanks

And does anybody know how much they run? PM me on that please...

I think 5 would be to big 3.8-4.3 max for a 71 series charger.

Not sure on the II 71 though have heard mixed results.

Mixed results? Anything bad?

How would the 71 be in a future twins setup?

Worthless. It's too big to use as a secondary, and it's too small for anything other than towing for the primary.

Any idea what hes making powerwise? Its a grand more than the SB, but comes with an intake, exhaust manifold, and downpipe I believe, all of which Im lacking but wanting, so thats made up there...

Does it cool pretty good or get kinda warm? Ive read that people get bigger turbos and arent happy to see they dont cool as much as they were expecting. Basically from the more air being compressed and heating up more. Somethin along those lines anyways...

Thanks guys. Keep the comments coming. Yea or nay on the turbo...

with overdrive off on the interstate he can still hit 1600 with the flux 3.5's. i havent never payed attention to what mph that it gets that warm by but its not like instantly but its not like 30 seconds either ya know what i mean. he has yet to get on a dyno but we were guessing somewhere in the 740-770 range probally

I've done one of those kits with dual pumps and their 62 injectors it will get very hott, its a pretty good kit to install though. I think the max injector would be somewhere around a flux 4 though.

Do you know if its based off a s300 or s400? Personally I called Engineered Diesel and have them build you a custom s471, it will be cheaper by a bit and you can customize it to suite you better.

It's a K31 in a T-4 housing. The same as a A5K which is in a T-3 housing.

It's based on the Borg Warner S300 though. It's a whole different turbo.

Ok. So whats the difference in performance between a K31-based 71 (as in the aforementioned PS71) and an S300-based 71? Which would be better for daily driving and better suited for big power?

Ive never personally seen a K31 or an S300 to base anything off of

S400 based chargers are stronger than the S300's(shaft size)
