Question Nitrous Question....

Is there a difference in nitrous systems for gassers and diesels. I ask cuz a buddy of mine has a nitrous system from his old mustang hes not using anymoreand ide love to put it on my truck for this weekends diesel shoot out. If it will work for my truck, does anyone see any reasons not to put it on my truck with the mods listed?

You can get it to work pretty easy if it is a dry kit. Tap your intake horn and put it in.

Even if it is a "wet" kit, just cap off the gas line and only run the NOS side of the nozzle. Was it set up as a single nozzle after the throttle body or 8 separate nozzles? If it was 8 nozzles, 1 will probably not flow enough NOS for your motor. Worst case you will have to get a big nozzle and put in the intake side of your charge air cooler. It is supposed to work the best there. Other than that, slap it on there and spray away.

its a dry kit, 1 single nozzle. What size jet do you think i could spray? hes got a 150 shot and an 80 shot. do you think i could run the 150 shot off the line to help out with the turbo lag, or could i just spray the whole way down the track and worry too much?

supposed to be pretty safe, i read in a diesel power mag. that too much nitrous just make diesels slower, not like in a gasser where it will blow your motor

Diesels love nitrous. All the nitrous does is burn the additional fuel that you are putting in the engine. If you are already burning all the fuel, there is really no added benefit besides cooler EGTs and faster turbo spool. If you put too much nitrous in the engine, it will get so cold that it puts the flame out. You just shut it off and restart the engine.

I would try the 80 shot first. I doubt you are adding enough fuel to use all that 150 shot efficiently. Spray the whole time down the track and it will help keep your EGTs nice and cool by the end of the run. That is a trick my friend does with his D-Max because that gets hot quick. It took .6 off his 1/4 with just a .051 jet and it is averaging 250 deg. cooler at the end of the run.

As soon as I get a turbo with a big enough wastegate, I will be spraying at the track.

Why does a turbo with a bigger wastegate make you able to spray?????

So if I put Nitrous on my truck it will actually help it. I always new Nitrous on gas equals bad. But you are telling me on a diesel that is good. WOW there is a couple of brush pulls around here that with a 100 shot of Nitrous I can put an extra 20 feet down.
