New ConOFE Question
Installed my new Southbend Con OFE and I have a few questions.
It makes quite a bit of noise at idle. The noise goes away after I press the pedal in. It's mostly a rattle and sometimes it louder that others.
Overall the clutch works great and I glad to have the slipping gone when I set the programmer to performance. As other have said just a litlte grabby but that should get a little better with age.

I've heard a few and I think that may be the case.
I guess that's the good side dual mass set up. Of coarse the bad side was slipping in anything over 3rd gear when you stuff the skinny pedal to the floor with mods!

I have had my ofe on my 2nd gen for about 600 miles it is defiantly grabs in second gear take off but I would rather have it grab than slip I imagine over time that will get better but for now I take off in 1st if I remember.

Yes, I replaced the DMDF. Actually my Con OFE is pretty quiet until I run the truck for around a half hour or so, then it will rattle a bit when the clutch is out and I’m idling in neutral; rev it a bit or push the clutch a bit and it goes away. I’m not too concerned about it.
With out the DMDF you’ll see some gear train rattle especially at low RPM’s with the G56. It usually happens below 1300-1400 RPMs if you lug it. In other words don’t come around a corner in 4th at 900 RPMs and push it. The factory DMDF isolates the transmission from these diesel pulses.
The OFE is a bit “grabby”, you have to do zero throttle launches or it will buck a bit. But with that said you do get full clutch lockup faster so you can get on the skinny pedal faster, just wait for full clutch engagement. I think I have less then 2000 miles on it so we’ll se what happens with time, at least it doesn’t slip.
The factory clutch feels almost car like, very smooth and refined. The Con FE makes the truck feel like more of a “real truck.” Maybe I’m old school, however if I would have wanted a luxury vehicle I would have bought a Lexus, BMW, Cadillac, Lincoln or what have you, not a 1000 LBS hunk of Cummins iron in a pickup.

Has the bucking on takeoff issue got better after putting some miles on it? Mine bucks if I don't give it throttle, I have to pretty much dump it or it'll buck, but only in 1st, 2nd, and reverse. Other than that its great, everything I expected.
