My coolant guage seems to go over 200* very easily now (with moderate accelleration just up to 55mph). This is new in the last 2 weeks. I rerouted the harness wires and checked and double checked all the connections been getting hot ever since.

Any thoughts?

It is summertime. 200 deg is no big deal, take the box off and it will run the same temps.

What I ment to say was it is more or less spiking up 50-100* past the 200 mark. It's never done that before with the box on for the last several months. It's new since rerouting the wires three weeks ago.
I don't know.

So, your saying that youve run the box a couple months with no problems, than a couple weeks ago rerouted your wiring and now notice this temperature spike. Huh, why did you reroute the wiring? I'm thinking about using dieletric grease on my connectors when I install my new harness. I'm thinking this may help isolate each pin from any electrical interferance.

If I were you I'd check all my connectors, maybe try running with the box off and the bypass in, try to pin point whats causing the spike in your temp guage. Or call and consult Quad. They will definaltly try and help you out.

When on the 100 or 140hp setting I can also get my temp gauge to move up over 200, which it will NOT do when on 60hp or stock settings. It's clear the box gets the engine hotter - and no surprise. The fact you say you didn't have it before and have it now makes me wonder if you just never noticed it before or not Jmac? Is it possible you paid less attn to that gauge before?

Lightman, I have paid close attention to the guages on the dash from the beginning and this is definitely new... I need real guages. I'm going to double check all my connections today. then drive it on the off setting and see what happens.

thanks Jamie

OK so I test drove the truck with the bypass plug in and it still overheats for a short period of time (5-10 seconds and it stabilizes back at 199*). This is still new in the last 2-3 weeks. If had a little too much oil in the motor, (2-3mm past full) would that cause this spiking. I've over filled the motor oil by accident in the past (about 29K miles ago) and all that happened was rough idling.

BTW truck ran quieter and smoother with the box removed FYI.

thanks for any thoughts,

Jamie

It should, your not having your timing advanced along w/extra fuel pressure and what ever other things the box does to make it's power.

KEEP ON TRUCKING!
