My exhaust stinks bad!!!

Been doing a lot of searching and reading and the general consensus seems to be to leave the cat alone. Okay, so I really want to leave it in there but I just can't stand the stink that thing creates! It doesn't smell like a diesel at all, it just reeks something awful.

Someone please tell me there's a cure for this. Oh, truck is an 06 3500.

No, it has a putrid vinegar-like smell.

Yep, that is the cat. You could tie one of those pinetree looking air-fresheners at the end of the tailpipe! Not much you can do short of the obvious, but do you really want to go there!
I love dogs, don't care too much for cats!

Nothing that a small caliber to the head won't cure.

Could be from the ULSD and the cat converter. Smells like propane burning.

Speaking of which, I was behind a 2nd gen Dodge Cummins today while riding the Hog and it smelled like propane. Don't know if he had propane injection but did it stink.

Yeah, it smells like a combination of vinegar, ammonia, propane, and someone's dirty socks. Makes me nauseous. I know there's not much you can do about it and remain "legal" but I'm surprised more people don't grumble about it.

UnrulyNFS,
You're not painting a pretty picture there!

I'm not smelling anything at all in my 06, even on ULSD (I dont even get the "just changed the oil" smell in my 06). But then, I dont park in a garage, and I'm never outside while my truck is running, so I dont have any opportunity to really smell the exhaust.

Hmmm...wonder if it has anything to do with the brand of fuel I use? You don't find diesel at every gas station around here so I always go to the Chevron closest to home. Haven't tried any other brand of fuel but I can't imagine that would be the reason?

You could burn biodiesel and have your truck smelling like fast food
