Mounting gauges in Laramie center console

Has anybody mounted gauges in the Laramie center console?

It seems to be a good place to mount but would like to hear or see how other people have done it.

I'm planning on a 2 or 3 gauge cluster.

TIA

Mounted my gauges overhead, two gauges. I did put a rear view monitor in the center storage. It works great there. I noticed it being a little awkward with the lid being up. I just hold the monitor and close the lid. The camera chord is inside the pivot area. You can see it from the front seat, not a big deal. Gauges there would be hard to monitor. I like to see the EGT when towing up a big hill or passing. The Transmission really climbs when backing my boat up the driveway. transmission comes up some in the city when towing. Opening the lid during that time would be hard in my opinion .

I was thinking a 2 or 3 gauge pod would be nice mounted where the bottom of the dashboard and the front of the center console meet just forward of the cupholders. You could mount the the gauge cluster just underneath the "opening" there.

I've seen the overhead cluster and like it. But I'm concerned with having the gauges be a distraction being so close to the rear view mirror.

I've got a picture of the gauges in my gallery. It's not a distraction to me. I can just see the bottom 1/8" of the gauges in the rear view mirror. Mounting on the A-pillar, you loose the handle. My only concern is how long it will stay up there. The summers can get 100's. I used a plastic molding 'super glue' to hold the wires up between the headliner & window. Not a problem yet. In the Ozarks 98 degrees and here at home oustide in 80's for quite a while. If it holds this summer I figure it will hold forever. The mirror is held with glue too. It is up to you where you mount them. Mounting in the console would be great except when trying to use them when driving 70mph+ .(just my $0.02).

I also looked at that area where the cup holders are. Look at it from the pedals. There is not much room behind the cup holders. If I remember there was the blower or the ducting directly behind the cup holders. I think the SLT does not have the cupholders that fold. The space was just a void where the cups folded up. It was finished off nice. Then the cupholders were stationary on the floor. That would have been a nice spot for gauges, in that void. But my Laramie has the folding holders. Like one of my teachers told me " You get what you get and don't mind a bit". Take your time on deciding, you will have to live with it.

Nice pics.

The day shot looks good.

The night shot looks like it might be a distraction for me. I like to keep my interior lights turned down at night. I guess I would have to try it to know for sure.

One more thing I forgot to mention LanceK. The night pictures I have do not show very good on my pictures. Driving at night, the gauges match perfectly for color & brightness, the upper gauges are slightly dimmer than factory panel. I was concerned about this when I bought the gauges. On my night pictures the speedometer color is white no color and the upper gauges have too much color. It may be operator error or "nature siding with the hidden flaw". The digital camera changed it somehow. I will try to get a better picture of it at night .
