I adjusted mine about a 1/16 of an inch, in the key slot. As said before it idles better, and more bottom end. Boost level at about 67mph went from 9-10 area to 6-7psi so its probably 2mpg better

with the TST it seems to smoke black a little more on 1-0, and more consistent power, put it on 3-3 and is incredibly smooth now, way more coal out the pipe.
probably the best thing I have done to the truck for the $

I didn't really see any mileage improovements...but then again, I've been REALLY running it hard since I installed the sensor ....so maybe I did see a gain

Only time will tell. I'm going to adjust the tone ring today if I get a chance, just take teh slop out of it, not notch it. We'll see if that gives me any more.

I know this thing didn't really gain me any REAL power, but I am enjoying it thoroughly. I can see how some folks can get caught up in BOMBing now

I slotted my tone ring yesterday. Didn't really find any difference. Starts the same, same rough idle it has had for the last year, don't know if the power is any different or not. I filled up tonight so will see in a couple of days when I need to fill up again. This truck has always had great fuel mileage so maybe mine was one that was more advanced right from the factory. Modification took all of 10 minutes to do.

Thanks to the help offered on this great thread, I just modded my ring. Couldn't have gone any better. I own a race shop and am a oldtime machinist, so I set it up on the Bridgeport and widened the dowel slot .040. Can't varify much about aircondition, less smoke, or power increase yet, but I DO believe I am seeing the following: noticably less boost needed to maintain a constant speed (on the order of only 2 or 3 #s at a steady 60mph). I filled and reset my overhead, left the Ramifier completely off, and was seeing much higher numbers than I am used to seeing on the return from the pump. It is only 8 miles, but I know what I usually see, and the numbers were improved enough to keep me from saying for fear that someone will think I am making a claim. I wish I had done this 1/2 way thru the 3697 mile trip I had just made! I will be making a 150 mile trip this weekend to watch some races, and that will give me a hint, but I am itching to do another longmiler.
One of my wishs is that the EGTs drop as a few have claimed. I learned on that trip that the altitude plays a major role in raising the temps with the box cranked in under heavy throttle. Near sealevel....no problem, high altitude....BIG problem.

I have hoped there would be something that could be done to help with the late cycle injection shot on this 04.5, and it makes sense that this might just do it.
I saw the sensor mentioned, but I am glad I did this, and thankful for all the imput. I will try to post whatever observations I have as the miles build.

Lusting for 20+ mpg!

Only downside is slightly more noise. But not as loud compared to the older 12/24v engines.

I caught the bug and put a modified sensor in my truck. I lost at least 1 MPG I took it out last night and the overhead is creeping back to normal. It did even out the power band but used more fuel for me. I didn't notice a significant drop in EGT. I am starting to believe this mod is good for the 04.5 and up trucks and marginal at best for the 03 and 04.0. $80 down the toilet, anyone need a modified sensor?

Rock, Doe_knob,
Are y'all going by the trip computer for the fuel economy? From mine it appears the fuel economy is going down but looking at the odo and the fuel gauge I can tell my fuel economy is better.

Maccandy,

As far as I can tell, the only downside is if you slip while deactivating the belt tensioner and flatten a finger between the balancer and the belt.....DOH!!

I filled out the sig.
Yeah it took 10 mins to do the tone wheel. Had to stop for a coffee at some point.
Doesn't take too long to lop out 4 bolts, 6 strokes of the file, and stick it back on.

throw that b$tch on ebay. I just ordered one yesterday to play with. I looked there first. someone will buy it.

if you went by overhead you should hand calculate. try a tank each way with the same driving habits.

Which side of the dowel pin hole did you file? Should be the counter clockwise side if facing the engine from the front.
And how much material did you remove?
