MBRP Muffler Differences?
MBRP Muffler Differences?
Hey everyone! I'm new to the site and am interested in picking up a new muffler to go with my AFE Stage II intake for my '05 3500. After looking thru the old threads, I've found the MBRP is a great replacement muffler to go with...so, I took a look at the DTR shop. I notice two stainless replacement mufflers...can anyone tell me the difference, other than price?
Stainless High Flow Muffler 2004.5+ "600" Engine
Sale Price - $149.99
Stainless 6" Round Muffler, 30" Length
Sale Price - $158.50
And then, once I decide on one of the above mufflers, I like the looks of
4" Inlet, 5" O.D. Dual Wall Angled, 12" Bolt On
Sale Price - $59.84
Can anyone tell me the length of this tip? Also, if anyone has experience with the dual wall design, what do you think, as opposed to the rolled design? I personally like the looks of the dual wall, but I guess I'm just basing that on the picture.
Thanks in advance for your help! And thanks for all the previous advice everyone has left in previous threads...I can't count the hours I've spent browsing the old threads...thanks!

Jared,
I think that the one that comes out and says the 2004.5 Dodge muffler is the replacement muffler with the S bend pipe with it that makes up the difference of the factory offset. The other muffler is just a universal muffler that will not have any offset with it.
The MBRP tips are 12" long and the differences from what I've been told are just preference. The dual wall is just two walls where the single wall has the one wall rolled over. I did a lot of research when I was purchasing mine and this is what I discovered.
Hope this helps.

I'm still waiting for my MBRP stainless muffler to arrive at my doorstep. It's late, by over a week. The tip you're asking about is the one I ordered, and have sitting next to me. I've been told that if you drive in snowy weather that the double walled tip will stay looking nicer, longer. For a few bucks more I didn't see a reason not to get it. And they are super cool looking.

I ordered on 11/18. If it doesn't get in real soon, I'm going to cancel it and get it somewhere else. When did you order your's. Did you happen to get it from diesel manor.

jaredb900rr,
Tthe part you want is a MK96116, it's the replacement muffler for the 2004.5+ trucks. It can easily be made to fit the 2003/04 trucks too with a 3.5 to 4.0 adaptor or creative welding by any muffler shop. We have approx 85-90 of them here as I type this so if anyone needs one that has been having a problem getting them just call and we'll ship it Monday!
The dual wall tips sound a little different (you'd have to have two trucks with each tip at the same time to tell the difference) and they do stay lookiong prettier longer etc. The one you asked abotu is 12 inches long. Lots of folks get our 4-6 inch 18 inch ling tip when they get the MK96116 muffler, they look great!!
Call us if you have any questions or need help.

Hi everyone, I am leaning towards getting a MBRP Muffler for my 2004.5 and was wondering how much louder it will be than stock. Miss my old 98.5 24 valver exhaust sound with a 4 inch system with muffler but without the resonator. How difficult for a person to install using the stock pipes on their own? Thanks
I have the DPP Muffler kit on my 04.5 SRW 3500. It took a little getting used to at first. It has more of a "Big Rig" sound than I'm used to ( High Compression & supercharged V-8's ) but it grew on me...
For the install: A sawzall will be your best friend. Get a couple of 6" metal cutting blades and the install should take about an hour or less.

EMathis,
Depends on if you keep the cat in place or not. With the cat in place it's near stock except under WOT runs adn when towing. Wittout the cat and you get the big rig sound that CaptNemo mentioned above.
